Dr Jenny Weall

Chartered and Registered Clinical Psychologist and Founder/Director of Blue Tiger Psychology Group

I first felt like a tiger in the Special Care Baby Unit in 2010, when I was looking after my baby who had an unexpected medical complication. The confidence, strength and determination I found there have got me and my daughter through 2 operations and many hospital appointments. They have also enabled me to thrive through and after divorce, and other life challenges.

Before being in Special Care, I had worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS since 2003, in mental health and physical health services. This gave me a really nice breadth of experience to draw on, as I worked with people with a range of difficulties, some of which were fairly straightforward and some were very complex. I took my tiger energy into setting up my independent practice when I returned to work from maternity leave, initially offering services to people of all ages, with a range of difficulties. Since 2017, I have specialised in working with athletes and people working in sport, where I’ve enjoyed learning about the unique aspects of sporting life and helping people overcome challenges to be the best possible (tiger) version of themselves, within and outside of their sport. Working across the age range has given me a great way of understanding where the younger athletes might be headed, and also where the older athletes have been!!

I really enjoy working with people who are curious about how their brains work, and interested in exploring different ways of operating. You are very welcome to be skeptical – lets try some things out and see what works!! I like to work collaboratively and flexibly, always trying to find the right approaches for you, and am adaptable as we notice what does and doesn’t work for you.

This also applies to the supervision I offer. Whether you’re early on in your career (or EMDR journey) or more established, I want to understand how I can be most helpful to you. For example, you might want a space to reflect on how your work impacts you, how to move forwards with areas of your work you feel stuck with, or to develop your skills in a particular way of working. Alternatively, you might want all of the above, and we will decide session to session what feels the most helpful.

Outside of my work, I am a divorced mum of 2 teenagers, I have 2 gorgeous dogs (who will come and say hello when invited to Zoom calls!), and I make sure that my work-life balance includes regular time for runs, dog walks and cups of tea with friends.
