Therapy sessions and psychological coaching

It is important to us that people coming for psychology sessions feel comfortable, so we do our best to create an informal and relaxed atmosphere. We know it can be difficult opening up to a stranger about personal issues so we go at your pace, always trying to identify and provide what you need to feel supported.

We offer a range of approaches to sessions including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement De-sensitisation and Reprocessing), Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), which are all evidence-based approaches to addressing difficulties and improving well-being.

You may already know which approach you want to use, or you might want our recommendations. We will always explore your personal goals for therapy or coaching, we will develop a shared understanding of why your difficulties have arisen and/or what’s been getting in the way of you living the way you want to. You will therefore be able to make an informed choice about whether and how you want to work with us. At all stages of our work we want to hear about what feels helpful and what we could do better.

These include:

We would like to help you live your biggest, bravest life and this might include working on:

Performance

For example: performance anxiety, managing events and coping with pressure, managing transitions, setbacks and disappointments including adjusting to retirement from sport (planned or enforced).

Confidence

Building self-esteem, strengthening identity, managing challenges related to neurodivergence.

Emotional wellbeing

Overcoming challenges like depression, anxiety, relationship or family dynamics, experience of trauma, bereavement, body image and disordered eating, etc.

Overcoming barriers

Conquering issues like low confidence, anxiety, imposter syndrome, and coping with injury or health conditions.

We will agree the frequency and duration of sessions with you, whether you are looking for a limited number of sessions to work on specific goals, or for longer-term more supportive, exploratory or reflective work.

Supervision

We supervise a range of psychological practitioners, including clinical psychologists, sport and exercise psychologists, and psychotherapists. We offer a safe space where supervisees can discuss various aspects of their practice, including their work with clients/athletes, their work with sports systems, broader theoretical elements to their work, business development and personal development/wellbeing.

Jenny has undertaken further training in EMDR and is an EMDR Consultant/Clinical Supervisor. This means that her EMDR supervision can count towards your accreditation as an EMDR practitioner or consultant working with adults. Jenny currently supervises practitioners working in the NHS in both mental health and physical health settings, and in independent practice with a range of client groups.

Reset sessions

A Reset Session is a focussed, one-off session to help you quickly deepen your understanding of a challenge and develop an action plan to address it. Before attending, you provide some information about what you want to work on, which you then discuss in your session. Your psychologist shares a personalised framework for making sense of your challenge, and an individualised action plan to enable you to make changes going forwards.

Examples of issues we might work on include:

Preparation

For events, transitions and challenges.

Performance

Developing motivation, confidence and/or resilience.

Coping skills

Including coping with injury, performance anxiety, perfectionism or neurodivergent challenges.

Relationship challenges

Including addressing conflict and parenting struggles

The fee for a Reset session is £225.

Webinars & workshops

We deliver a range of webinars and workshops to give you information and strategies on a range of topics to help you to achieve your goals - and learn a bit more about how we work.

If you are an organisation and would like us to deliver for your athletes, performers or staff, please get in touch, we'd love to help.

Things we love talking about include:

Neurodivergence

Workshops for multi-disciplinary staff teams, sport psychologists and parents.

Thriving through injury

For athletes and parents.

Overcoming performance anxiety

For individuals and parents.

Self-care and wellbeing

For staff teams within sporting and other organisations.

Career information and work experience

Do you want to be a psychologist? If so, you have probably realised how difficult it can be to get relevant work experience. Jenny has developed a free to access YouTube channel to provide information for students who might be interested in pursuing a career in psychology. The channel hosts videos with different psychologists talking about their career path, experience and reflections on the profession. This information is freely available on YouTube, and can also be used as specific work experience for those studying GCSEs or at sixth form.
